I am learning about how to partition a disk, but I do no know how to find out
if my disk is already partitioned. Could someone please help?

Hi

Run

diskmgmt.msc

from Start/Run - you can find in there if your hard disk is partitioned.

I see that others have answered your question, but I just wanted to clarify
the correct terminology, which is perhaps a little strange.

If you are using the drive, it *is* partitioned. A drive can not be used
until it has been partitioned.

Although some people think that partitioning a drive is dividing it into
multiple partitions, that's not what the word means. To partition a drive is
to create *one or more* partitions on it, and you can't use the drive until
it has at least one partition.

So, since you are using the drive, it must have at least one partition on
it--presumably C:--and therefore it *is* partitioned. Presumably what you
want to find out is not wthether it is partitioned, but whether it has
*multiple* partitions.

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. After I posted I did some
more "clicking around" and came up witht the same procedure as your reply.
Thanks again.

Will Denny,
Thanks for your help. I did eventually find my way to Disk Management. In
the future I will use your method, it is so much faster! Great help.

Thanks for your "excellent" help. Your are correct, the others did answer my
question but you have taken it one step further. Yes, I also need to find out
if my drive has "multiple" partitions.
