Does anyone know if it is possible to create a hard drive
setup and duplicate it to other laptops using XP as the
OS? I know you can do this in W2K and earlier. If you
can, does anyone have a suggestion as to what product is
best use?
Thanks!

its called a generic sysprep image.

Check the support site for details on how to use sysprep
to create an image to deploy.

No. I don't have the licence. I'm working for a
university program where the students will provide their
own laptops with XP Prof already installed. The program
director wanted us to ghost all of the laptops once the
final software configurations were set up. We have a
licence for the initial laptop.

Then what you wish to do is a violation of the EULA. You require a licence
for *each* system you are going to install the software on. It's the same as
installing the applications from the same CD and using the same key multiple
times.
