Hi,

When I execute the disk defragment in the System drive, I get a error
message. That is "Disk Defragmenter cannot defragment this read-only volume:
local disk (C:)". My system is MS Windows 2000 professional w/SP4. What can
I do? Please give me advise.

Best regards,
Danny

There are issues with the defragger in Windows 2000 when the free space on
the drive is less than 15%. First check that your drive is in fact not set
to Read Only. Also make sure you try to run the tool signed in as the
Administrator.

I have the same problem. I tried the free Diskeeper and
still received the same error.

My free space is less than 15%..so I will try removing
some junk and see if the defrag will work if I have more
than 15% free space on the hard drive...
