disk defrag problem, Win 2K Server

I am trying to defragment a mirrored RAID array. I get the
message "engine connection lost" whenever I attempt to
analyze or defragment. The other drives defragment just
fine.

I am running Windows 2000 Server, SP4. I have looked on
Microsoft's site; if the answer is there, it is cleverly
hidden.

Only thing I see internally on the error is that the volume might be in use.
Have you tried running chkdsk on the volume prior to running defrag? If
not, run chkdsk on the volume and see if it gives you any errors, then try
to defrag.
