disk cleanup won't work

When I run disk cleanup it starts looking to see what
space it can free. It stops on the screen that says it
is doing that and never continues. I've left it like
this for hours. My disk is really needing a clean-up.
Anyone have an idea on how to fix this. Any way to
download disk clean-up, or get it some how. I have even
reinstalled XP a couple of times. Still the same problem.

go to this site,csrool down to line 48,disc cleanup
sticks on compress old files,click it and open it ,then
run the disc clean-up.This should fix it.
 
I'm having the same problem. Have you found a solution yet? When you do, will you let me know
