Disk Cleanup will not work

I can leave the disk cleanup running for days and nothing. The indicator never moves and finally I just have to close the program. Anyone else had this problem? I have scanned for a virus a thousand times since I first noticed the problem and found nothing.

UNcheck the "compressed files" option, and see if that helps.
