Disk Cleanup trouble

When starting the Disk cleanup utility, it runs for a few
seconds and then it appears to stall/stop. It tells me it
calculating and compressing old files.

Line 48, Right column "Disk Cleanup - Compress..."
Save on Desktop.
Double click the icon once downloaded.
The icon can then be discarded.
