Disk Cleanup stalls

Windows XP's Disk Cleanup is stalling on me all of a sudden.

I choose Drive C:, and then run the Cleanup. It starts at "Scanning:
Compress old files" and it sits there like an idiot for minutes and minutes.

Anyone else ever have this happen? How do I fix it?
