Disk Cleanup Problem - File Compression

Disk cleanup gets hung up on file compression

I have read all the previous posts and am able to delete it from the registry to work around it. However, I would really like to somehow restore this option and compress files. Is there a way to do this and not just work around it

You can change the registry key back but the problem will most likely
return.
Since the registry fix is what Microsoft recommends, there is no other
workarounds.
