disk cleanup not working

Cannot run disk cleanup. Had used it previously but
lately will start to open up. Goes as far as calculating-
scanning-compress old files and stops.

Hi, I have the same problem as Eileen. If the answer is

not to be found here, could someone direct me to a good
information source?
My disk cleanup function only goes as far as claculating,
about 3 tabs of fullfillment scanning-compress old files
and then freezes. Thanks for your time! J.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\volumecaches\compress
old files.

I have had similar problems at work, tech in IT...
I have found if you run the System File Checker.. It will repair this...

open your command window type at the prompt...sfc /runonce And then follow
the prompts... You may be required to have your XP Install Disc.
