Disk Cleanup not working (different than the previous questions)

For a long time iv had this problem and now im fed up.
whenever i run my disk cleanup it starts up. then after
about 3 seconds it hits (compressed old files) and stops,
i have left it for a 12 hour day and it made no progress,
how do i fix it?

weeks but i didnt let it get the better of me, ok so here
goes .....you must go to this site http://www.kellys-
korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm once you are there in the
right hand colum go to number 48 and download this file
save the file to your desktop and you should see a new
icon appear on your desk top click on the new icon and
your pc will ask if you want to add it to your
registery. click on yes and then run disk clean
