Prior to running Disk Cleanup, I empty my recycle bin, go to Local Settings
and clear out the History/ Temp / and Temporary Internet Files folders.

When I then run Disk Cleanup, it still listed files (over 400,000 kbs) under
'Temp Internet Files.' Is this a different cache than the one under Local
Settings? If so, where is it-- I would like to manually empty all traces...

Hi

Open Windows Explorer and go to Tools>Internet Options and click on 'Delete
Files...' also enable the pop-up box that you will see. You may have too
much disk space allocated to the TIF folder. On the same screen click on
'Settings'. You can then adjust the slider accordingly - I have 50 mb
allocated to the TIF folder, which I find is plenty, if not too much at some
times.

Click on Start/Run and in the box type in %temp% and click OK. You'll see
LOTS of temp files.

50mb? Will, that situation will create a lot of problems when one downoads
pictures/graphics from friends email. To save them they will only get one
choice
and that is BMP and not the JPG as most people want.

Hi

I've had no problems here - downloading 'photos etc. all the time. I've
found that anything more is a waste of disk space. Default is 10% - on a
non-partitioned 160 gb hard disk that is one helluva lot of disk space for
the TIF folder.
