Hi there!
I have a tricky problem that there must be solution to.
I resently sold my old 1.8Ghz computer and upgraded to a
newer 3.2Ghz, both with WinXP Pro installed. Since I had
two physical disks in my old machine, and most of my data
was stored on that second D:drive I thought it would be
piece-of-cake to move my data to my new machine by just
dismount the disk from the old system and mount it in my
new. Since I have kids playing games on my machine, I had
my account password protected and had made my
files/folders private. When I, on the new machine, create
a new account with exately the same logon name and
password as I had on my old, I just get 'Access denied'
message when trying to open my old files on my reinstalled
second disk. I can access everything else on the disk
except for my protected folder. I image it has to do
something with NTFS security, but there must be a
workaround of some sort or??
Have anyone had a similar problem and can help me with the
trick to make me able to get my data back?
Hope for posetive answer.
Regards Ake.

This article describes how to take ownership of a file or folder
to which you have been denied access:
