this is for a friend, he has xp and is using aol 8 to access the net. He can connect ok,but after anything from 10 minutes to 30 minute he disconnects and has to restart his computer, he has to restart as nothing works, would this be an aol error or xp error or something else,anyone have any ideas please,thankyou

I have XP and i did have AOL 8. I have upgraded to 9.

There shouldnt be a problem. There maybe something else underlying it. If your firend is running a firewall try turning that off first before running aol

Greetings --

I'd always thought, based on the experiences of many, that random
disconnects were one of AOL's "features." ;-}

Seriously, though, I'm afraid you'll need to contact AOL's tech
support for resolution of problems with (or caused by) their product;
Microsoft has no
control over AOL's product quality (or lack thereof).

Greetings --

That's very bad advice. Given today's widely-publicized and
well-known hostile Internet environment, only a fool or a masochist
would go on-line without both a firewall and antivirus protection.
People really shouldn't need to be told to use a firewall, no more
than they should need to be told not to stick their hands into an open
flame.
