I recently installed MS Office XP professional. I now have both Outlook (neW) and Outlook Express (old) on the system. When I reboot I automatically get my mail received into Outlook Express. I want to disable this. I cannot find out what launched OE automatically.

OE does not list as a program to remove via Control Panel.

Thakns in advance,

In Outlook Express go to Tools, Options, General and uncheck the box "Send
and Receive Messages at StartUp.

Gerry, I appreciate your response. As you stated, one can turn off the option of having 'Send and Receive' run automatically when Outlook Express is launched. I followed that advice and that is a step forward.

I am still looking for a means to keep Outlook Express from launching or starting up on a fresh boot. I really only want to use Outlook, not Outlook Express (OE) accounts that I have configured (mine and my family's) are the same for both apps.

I've searched all folders named 'Startup' and can not find anything that would appear to launch OE. I suspect that it may be tied to the option that links connectivity for OE to my wireless LAN, and of course at startup I do want the wireless lan to run.

So, the question is still open on how to prevent the launch of Outlook Express.

Do you know it is Outlook Express or is it an assumption because an internet
connection is made?

Gerry,

I know that it is Outlook Express. It starts up 'automatically' when i boot the system. This is done infrequently since, with DSL, our household often runs our PC in 'always on' mode. I do reboot on occassion and it is then that, If I am not vigilant, I see that my mail is coming in to Outlook Express and not (new) Outlook. I want to know why Outlook Express starts up on boot / restart and disable it.
