Disaster Recovery and DNS

We have a requirement to "spoof" some of our servers in
DNS for disater recovery purposes. This means our
production and DR server need to be resolved to the same
name.

We can set up sub-domains, but there is a potential that
applications would resolve to the wrong server.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Wesley

It's not at all clear what you intend -- you cannot do this ahead
of time unless the alternate server can act for the real server -- and
the data will remain consistent which is unlikely for what it sounds
like you might intend.

Subdomains would give different names so again, it is unclear
what precisely you wish to accomplish and how you believe
DNS might help.
