I had a series of documents written in Russian in the "table" format. They
were saved, and when I opened them a month later, the documents were blank.
Although, at the bottom of the screen, it still listed that there were 2.095
characters. Is the file corrupted?

It's possible. Although I'd first check whether the text might have been
formatted as "hidden", and that display of "hidden" text is currently being
suppressed. Since you don't mention the version of Word involved, it's not
possible to give you a complete path to where you can check that setting, but
you should find it in Tools/Options/View.

Thanks so much for your reply, Cindy. I have Word 2003. I checked to see if
the text was "hidden" and being supressed, but that does not appear to be the
case (I selected the entire document and checked the box labeled "hidden"
under tools/options/view like you said). The strange thing is that when I
transfer the file to another computer, Word reads it fine. So maybe the
problem is with my computer (?)
