Has anyone encountered this problem, I have seen it twice
in the last week in 2 completely different
locations....
the main user loses his or her profile
settings like desktop background, my documents, any
application icons on the desktop, etc...
also when you go into documents and settings you see a
couple of new user folders 1 is a name or temp or
something like that, then the other is either of those 2
names follwed by a dot and computer name...
example: computer name is Julie, ther will be a new folder
called juliana if that's her username, then the other new
folder will be called julie.juliana or juliana.julie, and
there are no settings in either one of those and when she
tries to logon with her username it uses one of those
folders as it's profile and the old one doesn't come up
even though the folder for that profile is
still in documents and settings....
if I try to delete one of those new folders it gives me a
message saying cannot delete this is a system folder that
is in use....
what the f**k is this, I've tried resarching virus info
for 2 days trying to find out something but have not been
able to find anything.....if you've seen this please
advise....thank you in advance for any info...
both of these instances are local profiles/users on single
machines running XP Pro and connected to peer-to-peer
workgroups
