Disappearing File Names in Explorer Thumbnails

I use the Thumbnail View in MY Pictures for a working
folder in which I add, create and/or move documents and
subfolders. In several instances the File names which are
typically displayed under each item just disappear.
In attempts to restore the names I have tried the
following:
1. eliminating items to reduce file size.
2. changing views then changing back. Other views still
display names
3. copying all contents to another folder. Thunbnail
names are displayed normally in the duplicate folder.
4. Deleteing the folder, recreating it whith the same
name then copying everything back.
None of these worked to restore file names to thumbnails.
It would seem that the workaround is to just create
another working folder but since I set the default output
for several programs to one folder I would be easier to
get the folder working correctly.
Thanks- John

John, hold down the shift key the next time you select a folder with
thumbnail views that are missing the filenames.

Change view to a different type, then change back to Thumbnail *while
holding down Shift* - this toggles the titles on/off
