Disappearing emails

I have Outlook 2000. I was trying to prepare my
outlook.pst file for transfer to a new computer.

I archived my files and shut down Outlook 2000.

When I opened Outlook 2000 again, the familiar folders and
subfolders were still there, but there were no emails in
the folders and subfolders.

I tried to open the archive.pst file, but the same thing
happened -- no emails, only a familiar folder structure.

It's very strange because: (A) the outlook.pst file is
over 81 megabytes big (implying that there are still lots
of files/emails in there and (B) all the contacts still
appear.

Any thoughts?

A 81MB pst-file can be empty as well but lets not go into that. If you
rightclick the root of the pst-file in Outlook (probably the Outlook Today
folder) and choose Properties and press the button Folder Size... you'll get
an overview of the sizes of your individual folders. Are these empty as
well? If not you probably need to change your view to show all messages and
not only for instance unread messages.

Thanks, Roady. And if the individual folders are
empty...what does that mean? I'm not at that computer
now, but I'm sure that the "unread messages" filter is not
on.
