Disappearing emails from message store

I set up a series of folders under message store; one for each letter of the
alphabet under which I then set up folders for each client whose name begins
with that letter and I save email correspondence in the relevent folder. So
for a client called 'Smith' I select the 'S' folder then under that select
'Smith'.

Suddenly the folder for 'J' has disappeared.

Any idea why this might have happened and how i can get it back?
 
If you recollect the details of any mail contained in that folder run a
search for it - the likely explanation is that entire folder was move
inadvertantly
 
many thanks. I have done a search and indeed can find the emails so they are
all there, somewhere. But although the search shows them ( or at least those
that i searched for) , i cant see where they are actually stored or have been
moved to so i cant work out how to re-locate them back to where they were in
the first place. any ideas ? I have looked into all my other folders to see
if i inadvertently moved the folder somewhere - but i cant see it anywhere
