I installed two new drives, a DVD-R/RW and a DVD-ROM. After installing system software WIN XP Pro doesn't recognize the DVD-ROM drive. BIOS still recognizes the drive, infact I can boot from the drive

I have tried deleting the high and lower pass filters from the system registry and installing the software from www.dougknox.com with no result. I have tried the obvious uninstalling and re-installing. I have uninstalled all the DVD software too. Any suggestions out there?

If you installed the drives in a Master-Slave config then make sure that
the drives are set that way with the jumpers. Or
try cable select. Also, the red stripe on the ribbon cable has to align
with Pin 1 of the drive connector and Motherboard
connector.

The drives are set up correctly, hardware speaking. BIOS reads them, and I used them both to initially install all the software on the computer. Hence I know they both work. It is definetly a software issue
