Disappearance of Start bar

Dear folks, I need help. The Task Bar across the bottom of the display has
disappeared (only for one user--the rest are normal). We first hunted for it
on other sides of the display--no luck. Then I went to "Control Panel" >
"Task Bar and Start Menu." Double clicking this last icon caused the icon to
turn gray; other than that, nothing happened. Right clicking this same icon
brought up two options, one of which is "Open"; when I clicked "Open," once
again the icon turned gray and nothing else happened. Any suggestions?

The easiest way to deal with this (it sounds like a corrupted profile) would
be just to migrate the data to another account. It's easier than it sounds
actually and doesn't take very long. Directions are at the link below:

Dear Gerry:
I performed the Windows XP repair as instructed; now none of the users have
task bars. Go figure! I will try the suggestion from Frank Saunders, and see
what happens.
