Disabling write verify

I have been trying to figure out how to disable
the "write verify" function for my HDD. I've benchmarked
my drive (using SANDRA) and got the warning that the
write access score was less than half of the read access
score, and it mentioned disabling "write verify". I've
looked throughout XP and my BIOS and cannot find any such
option. Contacting the support folks for my drive
(Seagate) and for the controller (Silicon Image) didn't
result in any help.
I'm running XP Home on an Athlon 64 rig, Gigabyte K8N
Pro MB with the SI 3512 RAID controller, and I have a
single Seagate 80gig SATA drive connected to the RAID
controller. If anyone can tell me how to disable write
verify, or point me to a util that will work for this, I
will really appreciate it.

The reason many do not use Sandra is because of messages like these,
many of which, IMO, are baseless, and their benchmark references are
from some hypothetical systems that have no basis in fact.
