I quickly found info on how to do that among previous posts here, but
although it worked for the original questioner it didn't work for me. Small
wonder, I guess--the info was four or five years old and there must have been
a change in the interim. Anyway, after much clicking I found a solution for
my rig (XP Home + Outlook 2003). As follows:
Tools>Options>Other>Advanced Options will bring you to "Warn before
permanently deleting," which can be unchacked.

The only difference [I think] between the original solution and 'my'
solution is clicking the OTHER tab. Hope this works for anyone who needs it.

You never bothered to indentify the other post(s). My guess based on a
complete lack of evidence is that the other posts discussed an older
version of Outlook. For versions to exist means something had to
change, including navigations through the configuration screens and what
options are available.

Your navigation in OL2003 is the same navigation in my OL2002. So that
must've been some really old version of Outlook being discussed in those
other posts -- but then you never did mention what were those other
suggestions.

Outlook 97 - released Jan 1997
Outlook 98 - released Jun 1998
Outlook 2000 - released Jun 1999

For the navigation to be different or the option not exist or be called
something else (or whatever was mentioned in those other posts that you
didn't mention here), it would've had to be for a 10-year old version,
or older. Context is everything.

Well, heavens to Betsy, as my mother used to say. How quickly an innocent
violation of the Sacred Protocols--intended only to spare embarrassment lest
someone had made an error--turns on the Snarkiness Mode in some members of
the "community." Prostrate with shame and regret--though I thought my
mention that the previous post was "four or five years old" might have
sufficed--I provide the context here:

Kay wrote: "How do I turn off the confirm delete option?" and EK responded
with the original reply (which worked for Kay but not me) about an hour and
15 minutes later. The date of the exchange was 12/5/2005 (i.e., four or five
years ago), and neither poster gave any more context than that.

Answer
Hi Kay,
Try tools, options, advanced options, then there's a box that you can check
where it says "Warn before Permanently deleting items" is that what you're
looking for?

Hi,
Is there a setting to turn off the confirmation, every time you delete
something, the little box that pops up and says "are you sure..." ? Thanks
in advance.

Had you quoted the original message/thread for the benefit of others
who have no idea what thread you are responding to, many more would have
understood your post. (Not all of us can see posts older than a few
weeks or months.)

BTW, EK was wrong or typo'd - its always been on the Other tab.

Sorry, but not true. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/171669 and the
image at http://imgsrv.worldstart.com/ct-images/outlook-97-start-in.gif
show the option was on the General tab back in Outlook 97 (but there was
no Advanced button as mentioned by EK [er, as obillo said EK said] under
the General tab panel). Most likely EK forgot to include Other in the
navigational path.

EK said:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced

but it probably meant:

Tools -> Options -> Other -> Advanced

When typing a path manually, forgetting an intervening step isn't rare.
If you're expecting a response to be obeyed verbatim and 100% accurate,
you'll often be disappointed in forums and Usenet. Consider the answer
a suggestion only and you may have to do some more work on your own.
For example, the vast majority of users noting a path to an option under
Tools -> Options will fail to mention they are looking at the General or
Preferences tab because it happens to be the default selection.

Of course, we're still making suppositions based on non-existing
evidence but that complaint is now stale. obillo found the option. He
felt proud he had the initiative to roam through the screens to find the
option he was looking for, and while beaming he felt the need to share
although there are plenty of articles found in a Google search, like for
http://www.google.com/search?q=+outlook++"Warn+before+Permanently+deleting+items").

Sometimes it just takes knowing where to look. I don't know where
obillo was looking but it apparently was not a Google web search.
Microsoft's Office site has lots of How-To articles. Pick your Office
suite, pick the component, enter a search string, and see what comes
back; in this case, on a search for Outlook 2003 and "Warn before
Permanently deleting items", you get this terse article:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP030703991033.aspx?pid=CH063564631033

There is a LOT of good information at their Office and Support
knowledgebase sites. Quite frequently a reply will refer to articles
from there.
