I have gone to the start menu under control panel and internet
connections menu. Under properties or advanced I cannot find anything that
says protect my computer. I have searched everywhere and I have found no way
to disable my XP Firewall. Please help my firewall is blocking abilities for
me on websites. What do i do?

Hi,

The XP firewall would not block your access to web sites. What sort of
trouble are you having? Please be specific ().

Generally, you need to open cetain ports to allow this traffic through.
Your firewall will not allow traffic through unless it has been
requested or if a program is acting as a server. I would NOT disable
the firewall in this day and age unless you have another firewall in place.

Get every Windows update you can, get the latest anti-virus definitions,
and download a couple anti-spyware tools. (Seriously. Do all this.)
Then, right-click on your Internet connection, choose Properties, go to
Advanced, and uncheck the firewall-related option. (Only enable ICF for
*direct* Internet connections; enabling it on LAN connections is going
to mess things up.)

I recommend using ZoneAlarm <http://www.zonelabs.com/>. It does a
better job than the Windows firewall. I had a similar problem, then I
installed ZoneAlarm and it went away, and works in conjunction with
Windows's firewall for twice the inbound security.
