I am trying to disable Windows Mail and have done everything from going to
the control panel and setting the default programs to making sure the email
program I use is the default. I use Incredimail and it says it is the
default mail client. When I got to Windows Mail - it says it's the default
mail client! When I try to forward an attachment, Windows Mail comes up to
send it through. How can I make sure Windows Mail is NOT my default mail
client? Thanks!

go to Start - Default Programs - Set your default programs

click on Incredimail, then click on "Set this program as default".

Dave, thanks for the suggestion, but I did that and set Incredimail as the
default - went to my email again and tried to forward an attachment someone
had sent to me, and Windows Mail showed up again to send from. I can't
imagine what I am doing wrong!

You're probably not doing anything wrong. We have seen quite a few
similar reports from IncrediMail users, which implies that the
IncrediMail developers don't know how to have it properly tell Vista
that IncrediMail wants to be the default email program.
I suggest you contact IncrediMail for support.

I've never used Incredimail, but isn't it a standalone email client?
So, if you are in Incredimail, and try to forward an email message, how
could WM pop up?
How did you try to forward an attachment, without being in Incredimail?

You have two programs saying they are the detault e-mail program. My problem
(thread started earlier today) is I have none. I'm sure there ought to be a
way you could 'send' me your spare default.

Sorry, that's no help at all!

Start | Default Programs
Click "Associate a file type or protocol with a program".
Scroll down to the MailTo: protocol near the bottom and make sure it points
to Incredimail.

Dave, I don't know how Incredimail works, but I've used it for years. It is
a very friendly email client - no limits on size, and I have no problems
sending an attachment, however, as long as I do that from my email originally
(my own attachment), it goes through Incredimail. If I tried to just forward
an email to someone, Windows Mail would pop up. However, after going to
start - default settings - and disabling Windows Mail - I have finally gotten
it to stop coming up and have no problems now. You should try Incredimail -
it's great! Thanks for your input - I don't know what I'd do sometime
without being able to ask questions and receive answers that solve my
sometimes silly problems.
