Can anyone tell me how to turn off the Windows Firewall shield
icon in the system tray that _relentlessly_ appears when I turn
off the firewall service? I use Sygate and it works beautifully
and I have no need for the Windows app.

TIA

Neill

Open up Security Center (in Control Panel).
On the left, under "Resources" click "Change the way Security Center alerts
me"
Untick Firewall!

Hi

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.

Hi Neill,

1.Click Start, click Run, type wscui.cpl, and then click OK.
2.In the Resources area, click Change the way Security Center alerts me.
3.Clear the "Firewall" checkbox.
4.Click OK.

It is the Security Center reminding you - not the Firewall itself.
Control Panel, Security Center, and on the left click 'Change way . . .
advises me'
