If right-clicking on the volume tray icon or using the mixer to lower
all levels to zero isn't sufficient, you could disable the audio device
in Device Management (devmgmt.msc). You could also unplug the speakers
and simply remove them. If you are asking because your office
environment is getting noisy with all those idiots that want to hear
event sounds or listen to streaming audio, replace the speakers with
headphones.
