Depends on the parts used in your computer. Your computer manufacturer's
technical support can show you what to do. It won't be difficult.

Ya,last time I E-Mail some poor soul an answer I was hit
10 seconds later with Virus spam sent from the E-
Mailer.NEVER again! If you buy the card new the directions
will tell you(many with pictures) how to turn it off.If
by chance your picking it up from friends that bought a
256 MB DDR and giving you the 128MB (ya right) or 64MB or
32MB (ouch)(oh well just having fun).Just a little
thought, most built in ones dont come with an AGP slot so
if it's AGP it may not fit, you'll need a PCI video card
(like mine-64MB DDR--with 2 processores on the card 56
bucks at Best Buy,the Teens love it for the games,I
really had no problem with the 11MB motherboard video, but
then my bank sites not as choppy as the cool
games). 1st.load driver(hope you got that)(if not
should plug/play just put it in)then put the card
in 2nd. reboot,then reboot
again this time (you need to find out how to access you
bios my H/P is by repeatedly pumping the F1 key at
startup my Dell is by pump the F2 key, some others by pump
F8 or F9 check this site out it may
help
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm
with what key you'll need to pump)( get into the bios
navigate with the arrows till you find the video
card, turn it off, then the last page has a place for you
to save settings, most is F10 and then enter button(exit
and save changes). When it boots to windows(don't get
worried if the screen goes black, just unplug the monitor
cable and plug it into the new card you installed. So to
recap---load driver if you have it---install video card
(computer off)---boot,reboot---get into the BIOS(basic
input/output service)---turn off onboard video---boot to
windows---turn off computer, switch cable to new card---
boot, and enjoy!P.S.IF YOU NEVER WORKED INSIDE OF A
COMPUTER,STATIC ELECTRICITY CAN KILL YOUR COMPUTER PARTS
(they sell grounging wrist straps to solve this problem)
IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE AND YOU DONT WONT TO BUY ONE,THEN
PLEASE AFTER OPENING UP THE BOX (NOT ON CARPET)HOLD ONTO
THE METAL FRAME FOR 15 SECONDS BEFORE YOU TRY TO INSTALL
THE CARD, THEN KEEP ONE HAND IN CONTACT WITH THE METAL
FRAME OF THE COMPUTER AS YOU WORK INSIDE.If you don't
when you shock your motherboard, and need to replace
it,and your copy of XP has trouble recognizing the board
and your calling Microsoft BEGGING them to believe you
that your not trying to pirate a copy of XP,you just
change your motherboard,oh well you get the picture,it's
very easy.I suggest wrist straps, most people dont use
anything,so if your one of these PLEASE keep a hand in
contact with the metal frame, and don't do it on carpet.
