Hi,

We're having an issue with slow response over vpn
connection. Here's what we've found so far. Our sniffer
captures show the remote pc trying to open desktop.ini on
each network drive (Windows and non-Windows), which really
drags your connection when doing anything in windows
explorer. Have found on other sites that this is a
function of windows explorer, and was told that there is a
KB that shows how to disable this function in the OS. Has
anyone else heard of this? Any ideas as to what is going
on? Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

Definitely a shell policy setting. You might mean this KB:
us;816375

If that's not it, try googling for this registry path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi on\Policies\Explor
