Disable CTRL+Click

Hello all,
Does anyone know the registry key to disable to this ?? Would like to
do it to a few hundred machines.

So would the majority of most users.;-) I've been looking into this
issue myself and so far I haven't found anything and I haven't
received any responses to my requests for more information.

One of my top priorities is to find a solution. You may want to
subscribe to TechTrax (link in my sig) because I plan on writing an
article if and when a solution is found.

Ctrl+Click has the effect of selecting the current sentence, and then of
extending the selection sentence by sentence, similar to the built-in
(but undocumented) commands SentRightExtend and SentLeftExtend. Is that
what you're talking about? Why would people want to disable that?

How many people even _know_ about it? :-)

Larry, I sure as heck didn't! The only reason I lurk in these groups is to
discover delightful nuggets like this one. This will end up being one of my
top ten. Thanks much. My only problem is I can get ctrl-click to select the
current sentence but am not sure how to extend it. Have tried different
things but none is predictably extending. What is the sequence to extend to
next sentence? I would very much appreciate your help if you have the time.

My assumption was that the Ctrl+click the OP was trying to disable was that
required to follow links in Word 2002 and above.

In Word 97 (I can't speak for more recent versions), and I think in some
other Windows applications as well, if you click with your mouse on any
text while holding down the Ctrl key, the current sentence will be
selected. If you then release the Ctrl key while keeping the Mouse
button depressed, and move the Mouse over the text, the selection will
be extended sentence by sentence as the mouse pointer goes over each
next sentence. This works both left and right.

If you like the ability to extend the selection by sentences (which for
me is indispensable), you may want to access Word's built-in commands
for these functions, SentRightExtend, SentLeftExtend, and assign
keystrokes to them. If you're interested in that, write back to the
group and I'll show you how.

No, it's still there.

People were having trouble selecting a hyperlink so it could be
copied, formatted, etc. because a click would immediately follow the
link. Starting in Word 2002, the default is to require a Ctrl+click on
a hyperlink to follow the link, while a click only selects. There's a
new option in Tools > Options > Edit, "Use Ctrl+Click to follow
hyperlink", which is checked by default but can be turned off.

If the hyperlink is in the middle of a sentence and you Ctrl+click
elsewhere in the sentence, the hyperlink is selected along with the
rest of the words. If you Ctrl+click on the hyperlink itself, you
follow the link.

Thanks for the lesson! I love it. I use mouse more than generally approved
so don't really want keystrokes assigned (which I actually know how to do)
but I thank you very much for the offer and as I said, this is bound to
become one of my all time favourites.
