Hi,

I haven't really got a clue about Directx, but I'm trying to play a
downloaded demo and it says it needs a video card that fully supports Directx
8.1. My video card says it has Directx 9 or higher(?). I've downloaded the
Directx9.0c from Microsoft but the game still will not play.

Regards

It is OK to use names, like what demo (assume it is a game),
what video card do you have, details of your computer, i.e.
RAM, CPU (make/model) etc.

Do you get any error messages?

Bomber,

1st, what Demo is that? Could you provide us the name of that demo please?

2nd, please try going to C:\Windows\System32 and run the file dxdiag.exe.
Make sure that there isn't any error when runnig with dxdiag.exe

3rd, please download the latest graphic card driver from the manufacturing's
site.

Hope the above helps.

Sorry, it's Medal of honor Pacific Assault.
Video card is an Nvidia Gforce4 mx440 AGP8X with 128MB
PC is 2Ghz AMD with 256MB running XP

I've tried looking for C:\Windows\System32 dxdiag.exe (as the next guy says)
but I can't find it.

I've yet to try the card upgrade, I'll try it now

Regards

You probably need to download the latest drivers for your video card.

You can also verify that the drivers are working and compaatible with
DirectX by running DXDIAG.EXE from the run command.

I have the full version of medal of honor PA on my com. For some
reason EA changed the graphics engine for this game. It will only run
on my com in 800x600 mode. Others I know cannot run the game at all on
computers similar to yours. Don't know if this helps or not.

The easiest way to run dxdiag is to use Start\Run\ then type in dxdiag,
click ok

Video drivers and directx go hand in hand. Sometimes you have to install
the latest video drivers, then install directx again. Sometimes, when
you install a new version of directx, you lost the proper video drivers
and have to install them again.
