DirectX 9.0 for Win XP wont install.

You can try unregistering this file before installing Direct X 9.0b. Start
Run > regsvr32 /u d3d8thk.dll

If this doesn't work I have a program which will uninstall Direct X 9 and
install Direct X 8. You'll need your Windows XP CD-ROM to use this. Then
you can install Direct X 9.

while copying files, it stops and stalls at the d3d8thk.dll file and the
install fails. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'd be greatful for
