Directory name is invalid

When I try to install anything I get the error message" Directory name is
invalid" This applies to any installation, from anywhere. Ideas? PLease

To where are you trying to install? Give the full path. Also, please
answer The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the
time things worked and the time they didn't? Give some information about
your computer and what version of Vista you're running while you're at
it. Remember that people trying to help you here in the newsgroup can't
see your computer.
