Is there anyway to change the color of the text for directory names and file
names? As an alternative, would there be a way to change the color or shape
of the folder icon (currently it is that yellow folder-shaped icon)? Thanks

Right click on the folder. There is a customize tab. You have two
choices.

Thanks for your response. However, your response is very vague. Your
response only suggests things to do with the icon. How about the text?
Also, I want to do this to network drive folders and I didn't realize until
I tried to do what you suggested, for network drives there is only ONE choice
- change the folder type which I don't want to do. But it seems I can't do
what I want to do on my C-drive directories either. So I guess this is more
complicated than I thought. I am NOT the owner of the network drive, but I
have full administrator rights.

I've never seen XP do anything in colorized text. The help I gave you
is the only solution I know of, as little as it is.

Windows does 3 colors of text on NTFS, Black, Blue for compressed files,
Green for Encrypted files. You want to do anything other than that you
will need to get some third party "file manager" software and use that
instead of explorer.
