Direct Play Voice Setup (Control Panel/Sounds & Audio Devices)

I cannot get windows to execute dpvsetup.exe. I was prompted to use the "Add/Remove Program" to install it after receiving the error code 0x80004005. I attempted to adjust the hardware acceleration, but it was already full. An HP Instant Support Representative suggested that I run a non-destructive system recovery, because he thinks that the file was deleted. I only want to use that as a last resort. Can I download an update that contains this application? If not, what other options do I have?

no one forum had a solution, i ended up making my conclusion after
reading all then to try installing dx9b, from windows update. well folks
thats all it took, the error was gone, my microphone works, that error when
i test hardware is gone!
