I have a new computer with WINXP OS and want to transfer files from my WIN98 machine. I have a problem with the WIN98 system and can start in soft mode only. The CDROM drive is not accessible, it will not see my ZIP drive, and the large files (jpg) are too large for floppy disks.
Can I use the serial port hook-up to transfer word files, jpg files, etc with the WIN98 in soft mode?

What is "soft mode"?
