In trying to set up an DCC style connection on a Sony VIAO TR series P3 (Model PCG-TRA3P3), the New Connection Wizard does not give me the option to Directly Connect under the Advanced Connections option

Im going round and round with Sony. Ive done [START| RUN| sfc /scannow] and nothing was found to be corrupted; Ive done a full system Recovery as Sony requested, still nothing; Ive searched the knowledge base and found something close, checked that all the way into the Registry and still nothing! :

Please any help is MUCH appreciated as I had intended on using the DCC on a notebook to do Backups and such on Client computers that did not have the ability to do their own backups (This TR comes with a built in DVD+RW). But with out the ability to connect as Guest for DCC my work computer just became a fancy high priced toy..

Please Advise..

A Direct Cable Connection requires both computers to have one serial or one
parallel port for the connection. Do you have them and are they turned on in
the BIOS?

Then you will need a Laplink cable to conect them.

Hi Kaysan,

Have you considered a USB hard disk (or for small backups USB thumb drive), I also have a few clients that I backup once a
month. I transfer to the hard disk/thumb drive then backup to CDRW.
