Hi all,
I have been wondering if anyone would know, how to include using a digital
pen with the forms that are in access. I would like to use my digital pen and
have the signature appear on the form. If anyone has any ideas that could
help met that would be great. Thanks

actually I have been looking for the same thing myself and I have just recently found some information on it. Although I am still trying to work it out, the people that I am in contact with are telling me that it is only possible to use the code with there technology so I am not sure if it works or not, but hey you can give it a try. Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help.

Hi all,
I have heard alot about digital signature, however it is not quite what I am looking for in reguards to them, I would like to add a digital signature to my form, from a writing tablet. So I can write my signature and have it appear on the form when I would like and save it to the file and clear it out for the next person to write in the same spot on the form. If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks in advance

Hi. There was a similar question on digital signature a short time back. I'm not sure if the poster was wanting what you want, but I gave an answer for your situation.

Search here on the word "Topaz", and/or Google "Topaz", and you will find some information. We use 2 Topaz signature pads, for an application I set up for our Safety department. They use the sig pad to get signatures for all training events, and it works well. Topaz provides a demo Access application, at their web site, with a sign in form, so you won't have do figure out all the code yourself.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link. So that is available for 97,2000,2002 is that also good for 2003 I dont think that there is much of a difference between 2002 and 2003. Should there be??So would I have to have a Topaz digital signaute pad for this to work??can I also use my mouse? I not totally sure what to do when I get to the site. Thanks again for your help.

Joe
I believe the sample Access stuff is in the "Downloads" section. 2002 will`likely work for 2003 version, just make sure any applicable references are checked off in the Modules section of your app. I don't know if this will work with other brands, as I only have experience with the Topaz stuff. I didn't see a lot of options like this when I first started our project. All you can do is look and ask any other vendors.

Not sure what you mean by using the mouse. I'm still able to use the mouse on any forms in our app, including the forms with the signature part. The pad connects via USB, and there are no conflicts with the mouse.

Thanks for all your help. So This will work for what I am looking at. I would just like to be clear about things before I get started. So I can Use my digital signature pad which will allow me to write on the pad and have it appear on the screen? For the mouse, I was just wondering if I can sign with my mouse instead of using my digital pen as well. Another question that you might or might not be able to answer is that are topaz systesms USA? Since I live in Canada I was wondering before I get too far ahead I have to have the system, and it would be nice if there are available here. If you cant help with that it is okay, Thanks again

Joe
I don't know about using a mouse to act as a digital pen, having never looked into it. With the Topaz pad, yes, you set it up on your Access app, with a "sign in" form(s), and when the person writes on the pad, it shows up on the form, and (if your coding is alright) the signature is saved in the underlying table (as a rather large string).

I bought our pads through a distributor, not directly through Topaz. You might look around the website for distributor info. I will PM you with contact info for the USA distributor we bought from.
