Difficult view to set up

I'd like to sort my messages a particular way, but can't figure out how. This
is Outlook 2003

Messages should be clustered by thread. I want the sender of the first
message in the thread to be what displays as the header for each cluster, and
to be what the clusters are sorted by. Then if I expand the cluster, I can
see all communications back and forth on that subject.

I cc myself on replies so I have them in my inbox (it's a delegated inbox so
sent messages get filed into my personal Sent Items).

Doesn't View>Arrange By>Conversation do what you want?

No, that misses it by a couple of points. Sorry I should have just mentioned
that in my first post.

The problem with conversation view is that each conversation's header is
taken to be the subject line of that Conversation. The subjects I'm dealing
with are often not very descriptive, so I would rather sort based on the name
of the person who started the conversation. Also, when you collapse a
Conversation, the last message is the only one that shows, whereas I want the
first.

This is for a help desk inbox, so the idea is to be able to follow a large
number of active threads concurrently.

Thanks
