I'm working with a spreadsheet that has columns for each
month with Jan Fcst, Jan Actual, Jan Variance, Feb Fcst,
Feb Actual, Feb Variance, ... for each of the 12 months.
I'd like to be able to easily change the "view" of the
spreadsheet so that I could show either just the forecast
data or just the actual data or maybe just the forecast
and actual or all 36 columns. Is there an easy way to set
this up? Thanks. Michael

How about some macros that hide or unhide columns you
want? You can make buttons on a toolbar that will run
them easily.

These macros would be easy to create by recording.

Tools...Macros...Record
Select All and Unhide columns as the first step of each
macro to cleanup
Then hide the columns you want
Stop recording the macro

Good luck

You can create Custom Views of the worksheet.

While all the columns are visible, select View>Custom Views
Click Add, and type a name for the view, e.g. ShowAll
Click OK

Hide all columns except the Forecast columns, and create a view named
Forecast. Do the same for Actual, and any other combination that you need.

To show a saved view, choose View, Custom Views. Select a view name, and
click Show.

You should take a look at the Custom Views option, it is located under
View on the toolbar.
Just make all the custom views you will need once and you can easily
change between them.

Debra:
I've just created this scenario and I'm having a Dickens-of-a-time with the
Page Setup settings; When and as I set each of the 4 Views up I noticed
(while in add mode) "Include in View" that both boxes were checked (having
to do with print settings and hidden rows, filters, etc).
But anyway, as I change my page setup to Landscape and Scaling to 77% and
Finally margins to make it fit, it doesn't seem to remember that for the
next View; I've gone to each view and tried -- I'm at the place where I feel
like the first time I saw a poor dog "chasing-his-tail" - What a funny-sad
thing that was,, LOL.
Is there a work around so that after I change a View I can Print-Preview and
the currently selected View has the above tailored settings and not my
Default Portrait, Scaling 100%, etc... Maybe, I'm just holding my mouth
quite right... or else proving stupid again.
Thanks,
JMay

I'm a bit confused by your question. Are you trying to change the page
settings for existing custom views? I don't know of any way to change
the page settings for all existing views.

You could create a new Custom View, with the same name, and new settings:

Choose View>Custom Views
Select the view you want to change, and click Show
Change the page setup options, e.g. Landscape 77%
Choose View>Custom Views
Click Add
Type the original Custom View name, Click OK
Click Yes to delete the old view

Sorry for any confusion, but when I created each view I probably created
each PRIOR to Customizing the Print-Settings; I'm sure that is the problem.
Since there isn't a modify button on the Custom-View if I now want to have
each View with Custom Print Settings it looks like I need to go back and
re-create each (with new names) and delete the originals.. Hope this
clarifies!
Thanks again,
JMay

AFAIK, you can't modify an existing view, so you'll have to recreate
each Custom View.
