I have a word document which is 155 pages long. I require to have different
footers on some of the pages.

e.g. on one page I require 10/03/2005 but on another I require 27/05/2005

Please can anyone explain to me in simple terms how this can be done as I do
not appear to be able to work this out alone.

Thank you in anticipation

any help please send to (e-mail address removed)

You want to insert a Section Break before the page with the new footer, and
unlink that footer from the previous footers.

Place your mouse at the end of the page just before the page you want to
have the new footer, i.e. page 6 says 10/03/2005 and you want page 7 to read
27/05/2005, so you would put the mouse at the end of page 6.

Click "Break" on the Insert drop-down menu.

Click on "Next page" under Section Break.

Click on the footer on page 7. "Same as Previous" should appear directly
above the footer.

Click the "Link to Previous" button on the Header/Footer toolbar (the fifth
button from the right).

"Same as Previous" should no longer appear above the footer. You can change
the footer on that page and any subsequent pages and it will be different
from everything before page 7.

If you know which pages you will need this on and that will not change, you
can use conditional fields as is demonstrated for conditional page numbering
at http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Numbering/PageNumbering.htm. If these dates
will be somewhere in the body of the page, you could possibly use StyleRef
fields. Otherwise, you'll need to follow the instructions you've already
been given on having multiple sections.
