Please tell me the differences between .ost of Outlook 2003 and .pst files
that are used in Outlook 2000 and the backward compatiability of .ost with
..pst

OST files are Offline Folder files used in conjunction with an Exchange
Server mailbox. An OST should be a synchronized copy of your mailbox. A PST
file is a Personal Folder file. Both versions of Outlook use them but there
may be a format difference since OL2003 can create OSTs & PSTs in a format
that allows them to grow much larger than the ones that OL2000 can. OL2003
can also create & use OSTs & PSTs that are in the older format.

What are you trying to accomplish? It might help to know so I can steer my
answers toward that end.
