hello all.

Am using outlook 2000, and obviously would want to backup content, every so
often.

Can anyone tell me, if there is a difference between just copying the .pst
file and saving elsewhere, or, going file > export > to a pst file.

Do I get to the same place? a simple copy is so much quicker than waiting
for it to export.

any advice gratefully received. cheers.

many thanks for reply.

don't know what a backup app is! but you do say, just 'copy' pst file, and
that is simple enough. if it gives me the same usable file as an export.

will just copy in future then. thanks again.

Import and export should only be used if you need to transfer your Outlook
data to another program...copying and reusing the .PST is always better if
you're just transferring to another Outlook installation.

Backup utilities like this from Microsoft work very well:

hello all,

many thanks for clarifying this for me. I had been exporting pst from
outlook. very time consuming. 'cos i thought that's what you did.

Now just copy, and since folks have told me, have installed the backup
application. Does the same as copy, but, i think, it will now remind me.
