Hi,

I'm used to using Outlook Express. When I open Outlook, it prompts me to
select a profile. Data files are stored as .pst files in the same
directory/folder etc., and I can open any data file within any profile. OE
does everything by switching identities. I don't understand the whole
Profile thing. Could someone kindly enlighten me as to the purpose of
different profiles if you can open any .pst file in any profile? Thanks in
advance,

sheana

In broad terms a Profile is an individual configeration of Outlook with a
single new data file (usually) added when you created the Profile.
Usually peoples use seperate Profiles because they may want to seperate
individual mail accounts with their individual pst (data file)
Outlook 2007 in some ways makes useing seperate Profiles redundent in that
it can be configered with individual data files (pst) for each mail account
