This is the update that destroys Internet Explorer on some systems rendering
IE7 unusable.

Did Microsoft ever fix this screwed up update (so I can turn automatic
updates back on), or is this update still being pushed, killing computers
without warning?

I certainly hope they don't "fix" it. It's been working fine for the past 20
days! I've seen it on at least three of our Computer Club member's
computers with no problems.

If you google the group, you'll see a couple dozen threads about problems
with it (including one by MVP Richard Urban that claimed to fix it, but the
fix didn't work for me).

I guess since the problem only affected a comparably small percentage of
users that Microsoft never bothered to fix it....

Is that the one that breaks IE if you move your temporary internet files??

Yes, that's the one. So very nice of Microsoft to fix the highly publicized
and well know bug rather than me having to dig around newsgroups to find an
answer....

I fixed it by moving the TIF folder back to its original location. Someone
had posted that simply moving it anywhere would work (as that causes the
antiphishing directory to be deleted), but that did not work for me. I had to
move it back to the original location. I had anti-phishing disabled while I
did this and then turned it back on afterward (not sure if that makes a
difference).

Once again, Thank you Microsoft Corporation for fixing your bug so very
quickly! I don't know what I would have done without you!
