Imean my download through p2p software is working however
msn messenger says I'm behind some firewall or something
and I cant browse any websites what should I do. Pls help
me disabling this firewall. I dont have any external
firewall like Norton or stuff I guess this is the XP
Default Firewall or something. I wanna totally disable it,
pls help.

Hi

If you disable the XP Firewall and haven't got any other installed, your PC
will more than likely be infected by one virus or another very quickly. If
you want to disable the XP Firewall you will have to install a 3rd party
one - ZoneAlarm is a free Firewall - www.zonelabs.com and shouldn't
interfere with downloading.

Hi,

I would firstly not adivse you to disable firewall !!! However if you do want to this then you will be able to disbale the firewall by right clicking your dial up connection and go to properties. Then go to the advanced tab at the top and you will see the option for the firewall.

P.S I also do no think the issue lies with you firewall as the default option when you install XP SP1 is that the firewall is disabled autoamtically. If you are running Internet Security software this could be the issue.

Your post really doesn't make very much sense, I'm afraid. Unless
you've already deliberately enabled WinXP's ICF, then it isn't the
problem. (The ICF won't magically turn itself on - you have to do it
manually.) And if you have enabled it, then you already know how to
disable it, by simply reversing the steps you took to turn it on.

Given today's widely-publicized and well-known hostile Internet
environment, only a fool or a masochist would go on-line without
firewall protection. Any web-site or application that claims not to
work if a firewall is present should not be used. Period.
