I have a computer (it only has a dial up modem and cannot
have a network card) that i want to dial into my computer
that have it share the broadband connetion. any ideas on
how to do this?

Here are 4 possible solutions for you:

Solution #1: Dial directly onto broadband interface.

Requirements:

The broadband connection must be willing to assign more than 1 IP address to
your Windows XP machine, which is hosting the broadband connection.

Configuration Steps:
1) Open the "Network Connections" folder
2) From the "File" pull-down menu, select "New Connection"
3) Click "Next >"
4) Select "Set up an advanced connection" and click "Next >"
5) Select "Accept incoming connections" and click "Next >"
6) Place a check in the box next to your modem and click "Next >"
7) Choose "Do not allow virtual private connections" and click "Next >"
8) Place a check next to the users who should be able to dial into this
machine and click "Next >"
9) Click "Next >"
10) Click "Finish"

Solution #2: Make use of the Microsoft Loopback Adapter to act as a 2nd LAN
connection.

Requirements:

This will work with your existing hardware/software and does not require the
Broadband connection to assign you any more than 1 IP address. However,
this requires more work to configure for the first time.

Dialup Server Configuration Steps:
1) Open the "Control Panel"
2) If needed, click on the "Switch to Classic View" link on the left-hand
side
3) Open "Add Hardware"
4) Click "Next >"
5) Select "Yes, I have already connected the hardware" and click "Next >"
6) From the bottom of the list, choose "Add a new hardware device" and
click "Next >"
7) Choose "Install the hardware that I manually select from a list
(Advanced)"
8) Select "Network adapters" and click "Next >"
9) For the "Manufacturer", choose "Microsoft"
10) For the "Network Adapter:", select the "Microsoft Loopback Adapter"
11) Click "Next >" twice
12) Click "Finish"
13) Close the "Control Panel"

14) Open the "Network Connections" folder
15) Right-click on the Network Adapter, for the Broadband interface, and
select "Properties"
16) Switch to the "Advanced" tab
17) Check the box for "Allow other network users to connect through this
computer's Internet connection
18) Click "OK"

19) From the "File" pull-down menu, select "New Connection"
20) Click "Next >"
21) Select "Set up an advanced connection" and click "Next >"
22) Select "Accept incoming connections" and click "Next >"
23) Place a check in the box next to your modem and click "Next >"
24) Choose "Do not allow virtual private connections" and click "Next >"
25) Place a check next to the users who should be able to dial into this
machine and click "Next >"
26) Highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click the "Properties"
button
27) Select "Specify TCP/IP addresses"
28) For "From:", enter 192.168.0.2
29) For "To:", enter 192.168.0.254
30) Check the box for "Allow calling computer to specify its own IP
address"
31) Click "OK"
32) Click "Next >"
33) Click "Finish"

Dialup Client Configuration Steps:
1) Create a dialup connection as you normally would
2) Open the "Network Connections" folder
3) Right-click on your dialup connection and choose "Properties"
4) Switch to the "Networking" tab
5) Highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and click the "Properties" button
6) Leave "Obtain an IP address automatically" selected
7) Select "Use the following DNS server addresses:"
8) For "Preferred DNS server:" enter 192.168.0.1
9) Click "OK" twice

Solution #3: Dial onto private LAN interface (USB network adapter) which
connects to broadband via ICS.

Requirements:

This requires you to have a network adapter. You mentioned that you cannot
have a network card. However, if you were able to attach a USB network
adapter, then you could try this method.

Configuration Steps:
1) Open the "Network Connections" folder
2) Right-click on the Network Adapter, for the Broadband interface, and
select "Properties"
3) Switch to the "Advanced" tab
4) Check the box for "Allow other network users to connect through this
computer's Internet connection
5) Click "OK"

6) Right-click on the Network Adapter, for the Broadband interface, and
select "Disable"

7) From the "File" pull-down menu, select "New Connection"
8) Click "Next >"
9) Select "Set up an advanced connection" and click "Next >"
10) Select "Accept incoming connections" and click "Next >"
11) Place a check in the box next to your modem and click "Next >"
12) Choose "Do not allow virtual private connections" and click "Next >"
13) Place a check next to the users who should be able to dial into this
machine and click "Next >"
14) Click "Next >"
15) Click "Finish"

16) Right-click on the Network Adapter, for the Broadband interface, and
select "Enable"

Solution #4: Connect the two machines via USB network adapters.

Requirements:

This requires you to have a network adapter. You mentioned that you cannot
have a network card. However, if you were able to attach a USB network
adapter to both machines, then you could try this method.

Configuration Steps:
1) Open the "Network Connections" folder
2) Right-click on the Network Adapter, for the Broadband interface, and
select "Properties"
3) Switch to the "Advanced" tab
4) Check the box for "Allow other network users to connect through this
computer's Internet connection
5) Click "OK"
