Dialup icon disappeared?

There's no longer any taskbar icon appearing when the modem is
connected (thus I can't disconnect by clicking it, and have to
physically disconnect the phone line).

How do I get the icon back?

Windows XP home, Dell inspiron 1200
 
Goto Network Connections and right click on your dial up conection. In the
drop down click on Properties and tick the box that says "Show icon in
notification area when connected".
